Tribute to Maree Allen 14 December 1930 to 24 March 2022
.Maree judged on numerous occasions in all States of Australia and ACT as well as in Canada, South Africa and Scotland, including the prestigious 1995 World Championships at the Cowal Games.
Maree was a foundation member of the Scottish Dancing Association of Australia, SDAA.
In 1978 Maree was elected by the NSW State Technical Committee to become a delegate to the NSW State Committee of Highland Dancing and held this position until 1981.
From 1981 to 1984 she was elected Senior Vice President and later President of the Australian Board of Highland Dancing (ABHDI).
From 1988-1990 Maree served as President of the NSW State Committee of Highland Dancing.
From 1990-1994 Maree was again elected as President of the ABHDI. Among her many duties, she advocated diligently for the recognition of ABHDI qualified Judges by the SOBHD.
In 1994 Maree was elected by the ABHDI as Liaison Officer for one year.
From 1995, Maree served on the NSW State Committee representing the NSW State Committee Technical Panel and then the SDAA as a delegate as well as a delegate from the Technical Panel and Vice President of the NSW State Committee of Highland Dancing.
On Australia Day in 2013, Maree received an OAM for her service to Highland Dancing as a teacher, adjudicator, and administrator.
Maree will be fondly remembered by all that had the opportunity to know her.

The Australian Board has 18 honorary judges who have given outstanding service for over 25 years as a judge to Highland Dancing in Australia.
