The history of Australian Championship winners has been researched by past Secretary Ngaire Glover and Assistant Secretary Terry Dwyer. It would appear that the first SOBHD Championships granted to and approved by ABHD were held from January 1962 - prior to that though, Victoria had had approval directly from Scotland to conduct a Championship - there is no record of how long previous.
Few championships were held in the following years- some held were "unrecognised", others seem to have fallen by the wayside (eg. WA and TAS)
